Privacy policy
Your voyage is yours. Here’s how information is handled in Stay Afloat and on this website.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Stay Afloat is developed by Tomás Ruiz López. For privacy questions or requests, email truizlop@gmail.com. This policy covers the game and this website; features may vary between development, beta and released versions.
Your voyage, on your device
Saved voyages, progress, discoveries and settings are stored locally. If you use Game Center, eligible scores and achievement progress are also shared with Apple as described below. Stay Afloat does not operate its own account or cloud-save service. Your device’s backup settings may include app data. Deleting the app removes its local data; backups and records held by Apple or other providers are managed separately.
Purchases
If you use ad-free purchases, Apple processes payment and RevenueCat helps validate purchases, restore access and manage your entitlement. RevenueCat processes purchase history and a generated app user identifier, with technical information needed to provide its service. Stay Afloat does not receive your payment-card details. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.
Advertising and your choices
Ad-supported versions use Google AdMob. Google’s advertising SDK may process IP addresses and approximate location derived from them, device or app identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostic and performance information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and improve its services. Data use depends on configuration, permissions and your choices.
Google’s User Messaging Platform presents privacy choices where required. When available, revisit them in Settings → Ad privacy choices in the game. The app does not itself request App Tracking Transparency permission or read your advertising identifier. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from partner apps.
App analytics and crash reports
From version 1.1, Stay Afloat uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand app usage and Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and improve reliability. These services receive app and device information, installation identifiers, usage events and crash diagnostics. Analytics automatically records events such as app launches and session engagement, and may record purchase, subscription and advertising events observed by the SDK. It derives approximate location from IP addresses; the app does not use GPS for analytics. Crash reports include stack traces, device and operating-system details, application state and recent automatic Analytics events.
We do not send your Game Center identity, saved voyages, original seeds or gameplay results to Firebase, and we do not assign a custom user ID to these services. Firebase Analytics advertising-identifier and vendor-identifier collection, advertising personalization and ad-network registration are disabled in our app configuration. Analytics advertising consent settings deny advertising storage, advertising user data and personalization. Installation identifiers still allow these services to associate events with an app installation; this data is not described as anonymous.
These controls apply to the Firebase integration and do not disable the separate advertising and purchase services described in this policy. See Firebase’s privacy and security information, Google Analytics’ app data disclosures and Google’s privacy policy.
Game Center
If you sign in, Apple provides your Game Center identifier and display name so the game can show your profile. Stay Afloat sends eligible leaderboard scores (active survival time in whole seconds), the relevant leaderboard and game-rules version, and achievement identifiers and completion percentages to Apple through Game Center. These records are linked to your Game Center account to provide rankings and achievements. Stay Afloat does not use this information for advertising or tracking.
Voyage seeds, local run identifiers and local completion timestamps remain on your device and are not included in the game’s score or achievement reports. Guest voyages remain local. Your Game Center nickname and scores may be visible to other players; achievement visibility depends on your Game Center sharing settings. Apple handles Game Center information according to its Game Center privacy notice. You can manage sharing and sign-in in your device’s Game Center settings.
This website and support
This website uses GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors’ IP addresses for security under its privacy statement. We do not add advertising cookies, analytics trackers or third-party video embeds to this site. Gameplay clips are served directly with the website.
If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include, and use it to answer your request. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details or other sensitive information.
Purposes and retention
Information is used to provide the features you request, maintain purchases, understand app usage, diagnose crashes, improve reliability, respond to support and keep services secure. Where required, advertising processing relies on your consent; other processing may be necessary to provide a service, meet legal obligations or pursue legitimate interests such as security and support.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request and related legal obligations. Providers retain information according to their policies and may process it outside your country using applicable safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. Contact truizlop@gmail.com; you may also complain to your local data protection authority. We cannot directly access or delete information stored only on your device or independently controlled by Apple or Google.
Families and changes
Parents or guardians with questions about a child’s information can contact us. Apple’s purchase and Game Center parental controls are available through device settings. We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above.
